How do I setup Intradyn Email Archiver for Microsoft HyperV 2008 & 2012?


Important Information

READ before starting the Installation of Email Archiver for Microsoft HyperV

Required disk space for Compressed Email Archiver Virtual Machine Image

  • The email archiver image zip (compressed) file is approximately 2 GB
  • The extracted image is approximately 15 GB
  • Please select a server which has 20 GB of free space and it is accessible from you MS HyperV environment

Required Hardware for Email Archiver Image

  • Orca 500 – CPU: 2, Memory 8 GB, Hard drive: 600 GB
  • Orca 1000 – CPU: 4, Memory 16GB, Hard drive: 1100 GB
  • Orca 2000 – CPU: 6, Memory 16GB minimum, Hard drive: 2100 GB
  • NOTE: You can modify the CPU and Memory after the virtual machine is installed

 


STEP 1
Copy the compressed file to a local folder that is accessible to the Hyper-V system.

STEP 2
Right click the .zip file and expand the contents.

STEP 3

From the Hyper-V Manager, right click the Server name and Import Virtual Machine.

Select the folder location and click Next

Select the Virtual Machine and click Next

STEP 6

Choose Import Type – Copy the virtual machine (create a new unique ID), then click Next

Choose Folders for Virtual Machine Files (per customer preference), then click Next

Choose Folders to Store Virtual Hard Disks (per customer preference), then click Next

STEP 9
Completing Import Wizard, review the settings, then click Finish
NOTE

This will now copy the virtual files to Hyper-V. This will take several minutes to finish.

After the Virtual Machine is set up, right click on the instance and select Settings

Settings for Orca-HV-xxx:

  • Click Add Hardware from left menu
  • select Legacy Network Adapter
  • and click Add

For your Legacy Network Adapter:

  • select the Virtual switch for your network
  • then click Apply
  • and click OK

You are now ready to start your Virtual Email Archiver!

STEP 13
After you have started your Virtual Orca, you will need to ensure that the MAC address does not change on your system.

After the setup is complete, it is recommended to do the following procedure:

Shut down the Virtual Orca using the Orca command prompt

  • log into Orca command line interface. (see email for user id and password)
  • Select “7) Power Control (Reboot/Shutdown)” from menu
  • Confirm Shutdown option

STEP 14
After you have turned-off your Virtual Orca:

  • Right click the Orca-HV-xxx VM
  • Then select Settings
  • Expand the Legacy Network Adapter by clicking the ‘+’ next to the Legacy Network Adapter
  • Then click on Advanced Features

STEP 15
Change the MAC address settings from Dynamic to Static, then click apply, then OK.

STEP 16
Go to the console tab of Orca virtual machine.

Login to the Orca console using the username (login as): enterkey and the password: enterkey

STEP 17
Enter the product key. You can find the product key in the initial email.

Press “Enter,”

You can now close the console.
